I've seen plenty of oscar's in good health at the LFS' out here minus a bit of ammonia burn around the edges of their fins - they're like the cows of tropical fish, it's hard for stores to keep the waters as clean as a hobbyist can.

In terms of keeping them in 10 gallon tanks, or having them in with highly aggressive fish, that's just unacceptable.

Here's mine. He's 13". Never had a scratch on him. Never had HITH. Still going strong!
