Depression and fishkeeping

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
While I do not have autism, I did have some SERIOUS anger issues that medication was keeping at bay. Now that I have been taking care of fish and up keeping my 3 tanks, I am so much less angry now. It is amazing how relaxing it is to have a hobby and focus on something else besides life and its hellish responsibilities. Hang in there and keep the hobby going. It is amazing what it does for you.

I was diagnosed with clinical depression at the age of 13...Im 22 now and its all but gone away. Its a very hard illness to deal with expecially at the age which you are right now. IME the best medicine is finding something that you can invest love and time into and get some of that back. You have absolutly beautiful aquariums and from what Ive seen some real lookers of fish as well...youve devoted your time into the hobby and now its helping you.

It's like the fish are paying me back for looking after them.
