  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Unfortunate to see a setup like this. Glad to hear someone else is going to take the responsibility to get it back into shape.

To anyone reading this thread I need a ? answered.

I got to finally speak with the person whom I am replacing and I casually asked him some ?

about waterchanges "Oh I did one every 2 months or so, it was enough to keep her healthy!"

about volume of wc "Oh about 25-30% , it was enough to keep her healthy!"

now the mind blower considering this gar is 10 years old and only 11-12 inches, I asked him what kind of gar she is

"She is an aligator gar!"

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FRIKINN KIDDING ME THIS GAR IS 10 YEARS OLD AND IT IS ONLY 11-12 INCHES AND IT'S SUPPOSEDLY AN ALIGATOR GAR
:WHOA: :screwy: :WHOA: :screwy: :WHOA: :screwy:

If there is anyone reading this who can id this gar for me please do, the pic is in one of my earlier posts.

Pretty sure its a spotted gar. Looks like one to me and it even has a sign for it on the display. Im no pro so you might want to wait for a positive ID

thanks im looking at it going it seems to brown and dark for a gator but the dude actually works at a fish store talk about a lfs employee story

I just want to make sure this fish is not more messed up than i already think it is

ok so when I was at the store getting some prime I found these two in the senegal bichir tank, since most probably there will be bichir in the museum tank I bought them. these pics are after I just put them in so they kinda whited out and my camera bites the flash super exposes things, the marking on the head have a dark stripe with white flashes above and below.

I have to grow them now but if anyone can tell me what they look like, sorry my camera is not so hot

I also have 2 ornate bichir coming in 2 weeks, and have secured a needle nose gar for pick up on monday

Went and picked up a fx5 filter today and I think it will create way to much water flow so Im gonna put a rena xp4 on instead.

From what I can see they just look like really young Sens that still have all their markings. I have one at 4" or so that still has stripy lips but he's def a senegal.
You've definitely got your work cut out for you there but it seems like a really cool project. I wish someone would hire me to maintain a large tank, maybe it would give me that little bit of "fix" and I could hold off on setting up my own.
[edit] oh and there's no such thing as a needle nose gar. The guys on the gar forums are real sticklers about that. Hopefully you mean a longnose gar and not a needlefish which is not a gar at all.

bottom 2 pics are P.senegalus

shooot thought I made a score but hey still they are cool fish time to grow them out
