All joking aside prevention is key, by the time ur fish start showing signs of deterioration its way too late. Many of the experienced fk here stay on a schedule of wc and filter maintenance and we never have issues.

Like everyone said you need a water change. But I have two parrot fish, I had one a few months before I bought the second one. The first one will do the same thing when I walked into the room and it got scared. Then the second one did the same thing. For the most part they both outgrew this habit, the little one still hides in the corner like that every so often.

When a tank is that far gone, be careful changing too much of the water at once.
