Hi,
So I love your tank, only missing some Datnoids for the middle of the Tank. How does the FRT go along with the rays? I also have a marbled motoro smaller but also a female yours are great! Keep it up and bring us some more photos.
Add current to the tank, mainly pointing to the problem areas, I use that in my 265 and it's going great!

It is a risk. The rays can try to eat the loaches and if they do, the barbs on their faces can cause issues. Mine have been great so far but it is a risk. The larger the loaches the better, my smallest loaches are 7".
i was told more along the lines the loaches would harm the rays, not the rays would eat the loaches. my rays (Potamotrygon cf. reticulatus) refuse to eat anything but blackworms and ghost shrimp, highly doubt they'd be eaten. so should i give it a try?

Thanks! Doing a thread shortly a little more about the tank in the media forum....I have added some more fish to the tank since this pic...

It is personal preference really.

I love clown loaches and if this combo does not work it will be extremely hard for me to part with them. My female marbleds are known fish eaters....had a school of 15 geophagus tapajos (very large breeding adults) and have tried large angelfish multiple times and have none to show. The loaches though are very active at night and stay as a tight school so I think they know to keep their distances from the rays.

Here is a little bit different shot of the external overflow box on this tank:

The work exactly the same as an internal overflow box but are not taking up valuable space inside the tank.

i love these but think this way. you could have extended the tank that far and had the overflows internal but only up top. overflows dont need to go from top to bottom.

i do really like this though. and since you cant run anything on the back side you definately did right. i do think powerheads will work for you. how loud do these run since they do not have a lid?

They are not noisey. My other 520 gallon tank (same dimensions) has a center back external overflow but had space behind it to allow for it.

I will likely add a couple very large tunze powerheads down low in the tank, concealed mostly by the wood and it should correct this issue.

^^this. I run 2 Koralia 1400's down low in my 300 and it helps a lot. My Freddy even craps right over the one on the right side and the poo goes straight up towards the overflow box lol. She's toilet trained

and this. Eheim makes it. I think it cost about 40 bucks. Takes about 5 minutes to do a quick vac for whatever the power heads miss. Fully submersible too.......

great tank BTW. Love the frt

Ok, I see now. Does look like those teeth are under sized, although they should be able to handle a bit more flow until the water overtops them. Are those "durso" type setups to reduce the gurgling noise? Any change in flow rate if you took them out?
