water quality is the key...good genetics on the fish help!

good qualtiy on the fish helps the color. Weve seen it happen here where we get a male ahli from one place and a male from a breeder and u can see the difference in the color jsut from the quality of the fish. males will also have great colors if females our present.

What if the fish had good colors when I bought them, and they lost their colors. Is it still possible to get their colors back?

yes they can depends what is the setup like?

Maybe. It all depends on how you're keep them.

If a fish has a lot worse color than in the dealer's tank, then either it's not happy or it was hormoned and the hormones wore off (or both).
