Has anyone kept Diamond Tetras as dither in cooler water? They are originally found in Venezuela.

There is a wide variety of minimal temp recomendation from 72*-76*.

My SA tank is unheated and get down to a low of 68-70* in winter.

Thanks...Bill

I wouldn't do it. Why not just get a heater for your tank

Alot of SA cichlids need a cool down period and I am guessing he wants fish that can take the cool down.

They're considered tropical fish and they do need heat for proper health, growth etc... Try 2 and see how they do.

Gold white clouds do well in cool waters.

Ya. Venezuela looks to be pretty near the equator.

My Columbians and Serpae seem to be doing fine.

I wanted something different in my other tank.

Thanks....Bill

Bloodfins and buenos ares tetras both come from cooler waters, but the BAT's might be a bit rough on smaller cichlids and plants. Not sure how well the bloodfins would handle it, but given their distribution ... I would think they would be okay.

White clouds mountain minnows, while not from South American, would work just fine.
