The setup looks awesome bro! Dope idea on mixing the natural sand + black substrate since it actually looks good and the filtration looks great.

It was only like yesterday you had a WTB ad for a monster tank. You got this thing up and running w/ the quickness....good sh*t. Damn seeing MONSTER tanks like yours only makes me that much more eager to get a new BIGGER tank. To think I thought my tank was big enough when i got it!

Can't wait to see pics of fish in there.

Amazing bro, as always! Your old 210g was awesome, too. I'm digging the sand mix 1000%. It looks so natural...Any plants going in with those lucky SOB clown loaches? I get it with the metric buttload of biorings, but are you planning to add any more mechanical filtration? Just the FX5 & filter sock right now, huh? How is the FX5 plumbed in (cant see in pics)? One day I'll have my big effin' tank, but for now I can just dreeeeeeeaaaaaaammmmmm...........

thx man! no plants going in, just the fake plastic stuff you see there :) as for mechanical, im gonna try it just like that. on my 210 i had the fx5 and a sump and it kept the water crystal clear. if gets bad, i might get one of those ocean clear canisters but no plans for that now.

some of those pics were taken before i installed the fx5, but its just plumbed regularly, with the hoses over the top. i had to buy a new set of fx5 hoses cause this tank is so much taller than my 210g :)

thx bro, i remember the day i got my 210, i thought it was the biggest tank in the world. now when i walk by it after having this thing running it looks TINY!!! standing in front of a 3ft tall tank is definitely impressive. i dont think i will ever own a tank thats less than 3ft tall now

thanks! the purpose of the false bottom is to create an open space between the bottom and your substrate. you would put some eggcrate on top of that with bugscreen and through your sand/gravel on top. so when the water flows through, it pushes all the crud up into the filter :)

Ah, now I got it thanks for the explanation

Great job. I got my tank planned similar to yours but have not completed yet. The smallest pump Wave makes today is 1/15HP pumping 3000gph/1.3amps. Do you think this is too much for my 260gal cichla tank? My tank is a standard tank with a trapeziod overflow box. I'm the San Diego Rep for Wave products and I spoke with them about making pumps for aquariums but they said smaller pumps will cost the same so why go small. I'm just worried that the sump won't be able to catch up. Your advice is greatly appreciated.
