IN YOUR HEAD
i just got my 4 new female retics yesterday and i did a test for the acclimation...i took one and suirt and dumped it...took the other 3 and did a fast drip for 15min then put them in the same tank as the dumped one...(to keep them on even grounds)...the ray that i dumped freaked out and was flipping when it entured the tank...it was very stressed, developed some tail fungus and die in the night...the other 3 were calm when i put them in, breathing normaly like i have had them for weeks...also to top it all off 2 of the 3 were eatting within 3hrs...the other one is a maybe eatting, but i have not confurmed it...also the biggest one had very sh^tty water when i got it...it was the first to eat after the 15min drip and is the most active...i can't wait to put some pics up as it has an amazing pattern that i haven't seen before...i have to wait for pics till my main computer is fixed though...

in short i have found my new favorite way to aclimate...they were in the box for around 20hrs maybe more...

i got them from TFD just like the others...i did get one from a lfs, but my f'n pacu and severum killed it...they are now at the lfs...i got rid of all the fish that were iffy with the rays...i have lost to much money to have 50/50 fish with any of my rays from now on...they were with my pbass, but they were eatting all the black worms before the rays could...so i moved my jar in with them, but it is pushing its luck, as it don't like my pbass and is showing alittle to much interest in the rays...i may sell my jar...idk though...it has no problems with bichirs and those are the only thing it likes now...

to be a fair experiment you would need more than one ray for the straight dump method ... (could be that one ray was already on the way out, etc, other problems, you know the idea) also you should post up your water params

BUT in saying that I always drip my rays in as well, and they do fine :) So definitely agree with you in the drip method :)

congrats on the new rays buddy!! PICS??

I always drip....

my perams are ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 10 ppm, temp 82-84f, ph 7.2...

i know to be more "ligit exp." i should do more then 1, but i have done this dump method on 4 other retics into the same tank, and perams...of those 5 rays (including this new one), 2 females died overnite, one died a week later, one got killed by risky tankmate that i nolonger have, one lives one...i did a slow acclimation of 2 males...one died randomly after a few weeks and the other lives one...of all the methods and rays...this drip was the best...all three rays left(from this buy) are eatting black worms, my other 2 are eatting frozen blood worms and i have seen them chewing on some frozen minnows that my knive and gar didn't get...

i can't get pics yet due to my computer fring and i am just useing a laptop temp...2 of the rays are 2-2.5" and one is 5-6" 2 have some really long tails...the 5-6" is damn near 13" from tip to tip...were as my 6" male is 10" from tip to tip...i have 2 females with shorter tails due to fungus from shipping...

did you get the fish lice problem treatment started. i told you they were hard to see lol. also you will have to treat all tanks just to be sure though since you have been doing some moving around of the fish. i used jungle ponds anchors away for mine and that seemed to work the best. sorry i wasnt available when you first posted about it to try and help either. also how did the new girls look did any have lice or any other problems?
