All you can do is hope that they do what is right.
You can always get it back, considering you brought it in there. I personally don't trust any lfs unless it's run by a friend. And there's only one of those. Out of curiosity, what kind of fish was it?
I wondered the same thing when I took my 2.5 foot clown knife in to a Big Al's to be put in a display. I thought I was doing the best thing for him. I thought that in a 2500 gallon tank, he'd be happy, and I'd be able to visit him. I was wrong, and it scarred me. They forgot he was acclimating, and dumped him in right before they left. Never watched him or anyone else in the tank. When I went back the next day, his nose was half torn off, and about 3 inches of his tail was chewed away. After going hysterical in the store and freaking out on them, I took him home, and tried to save him. He passed the next day. RIP Hank (he's my pic). I will NEVER trust another lfs with any of my animals ever again.
