Nice pickups. $100 a fish is only the beginning of a building a bichir collection. Later on, you might find yourself spending $250+ a fish. The only way for me to tell a buetti and a palmas palmas is to own both. Since they're wild caught it's best to keep your tank covered completely. The palmas palmas will settle down after 2-3 weeks. It's always a good practice to treat them with parasite med whenever acquiring wild caught fish.

Oh, I know teugelsi, bichir bichir and ansorgii are going to cost a lot more than $100. I already PM'd Toyin about how much they would be.

I have no holes and 2 light fixtures on top, but I will probably put some weight on, too. I am treating them with Jungle Parasite, salt, pima and mela. It's probably overboard, but I don't want to lose another one to a disease it came in with.

All you need is Jungle Parasite Clear and that's enough. Treating with excessive medicine can stress a fish and kill it. It's like you don't go to a hospital to have nurses inject medicines into your system for fun.

I see what you're saying. I actually have a little carbon in there, so the meds should be pretty cleared out. I will just use the parasite med from now. Thanks for the input on that.

How much were they ? The Retros and palmas also do you know how much there weeksiis are ?

I hope you can get some. They seem to be selling the rarer Polypterus well.

The retro and palmas were $50. I didn't ask about the weeksii. I think the tiny ones they had before were $35 and the new ones are about the same size as the congicus (13") and the congis were $100, so the weeks should be about the same. that's a great price. I would get a larger one and sell your little one. I'm starting to get tired of growing things up, though since I'm impatient lol.
