Did I just killed my shrimps?!

I tried that in the past on my CRS tank and the most i got the temp to drop was about 1'C...

My only advice would be, if you want to try keeping shrimp again, maybe try something like Cherry Red Shrimp which are much more tolerant to slightly warmer temps...

Otherwise, if you dont mind setting up a Higher PH tank (around 8PH) you could try Sulawesi Shrimp which prefer warmer temps around 28'C - 30'C

Haha I managed to drop the temperature gradually from 29/30 to 24/25 for my Cray's tank and shrimps'. They seemed so much more alive now!! And I used only the fan, a big fan. Haha

Cool... Good luck with it, since as long as the tank is actually cycled, you should find a lot less deaths in the tank unless something else is goes out of sync to what they need..

Yep! Thanks! I came back home with a tank with lots of molts and active shrimps. Glad that they're healthy!

Tank size has nothing to do with it. This is probably a large contributor (if not the only one) to your problem. How high did your ammonia actually get? I know you said it's 0 now, but do you have chloramines in your water? If so, you have to realize that your dechlorinator DOES NOT remove ammonia. It simply binds it in a non-toxic, bioavailable form that will be utilized by your beneficial bacteria. However, after 1 week of cycling with no initial culture of bacteria you really won't have much of a culture. So over time, those bonds will break, releasing ammonia and nitrite back into your water. Using those conditioners for ammonia control is simply a temporary fix.

Trace amounts of copper in the pipes can also cause issues. Are you running any carbon or ion-exchange resin in your filter?

Not meaning to be anal or anything but whether you have one or a few the word is shrimp,never shrimps.
