I recently placed an order with Rainforest Farms International...I didn't research Tom and RFI enough apparently...I've been looking online as my order was supposed to ship yesterday, but Tom never called, I haven't gotten an email response yet, and I"m not sure if it is going to arrive today or not? I've seen some really bad reviews of RFI, and now I'm concerned. I have 2 crayfish and 5 rainbows coming (most of the complaints came from Discus purchases) and I'm concerned that this was a bad idea? Does anybody have anything to ease my worries? I usually only order from Cichlid Station (they are awesome) but went for RFI as the quality and price seemed ok, that and Tom called me numerous times on the phone, which I thought was *good* customer service...I'm worried....:irked:

I wouldn't sweat it yet. Busy time of year. This Tom fellow is probaly busy shipping a few packages.

Did some research...and left a message with "TOM", he says that FED EX screwed up my order and left the box sit at the station and he was on his way to pick them up...we agreed he would RESHIP on monday so I'll keep you guys posted...if my order gets screwed up I'll post the link to the article that has me VERY concerned. Its not flattering, but I'm willing to accept that its an issue with the holidays and give him another chance.

I would call him and give him a deadline (ie tomorrow) that if you don't have either the fish on your doorstep or a Fedex tracking code that you are going to dispute the charges on your credit card. (If you paid via CC) Chargebacks against a merchant are usually accompanied by fees and if the merchant's chargeback % (total charged back on that CC vendor/ total sales with that CC vendor) gets to a certain level that credit card company will no longer do business with them.

The easiest card to do this with is American Express because they will immediately refund you the money and hold the merchant guilty until proven innocent. Visa, MC, and Discover will make you provide evidence that you never received the merchandise (never knew how they figure you can do that) and then refund you the money later. I used to fight ~20 fradulent charges a month when I worked at this one place. Amex sucess rate was exactly 100% and Visa, MC and Discover all came in around 3% within a month and probably 25% within 6 months.

I am not a sales rep or associated with Amex in any way but it is definitely a major advantage when purchasing products online.

Most merchants don't know how difficult charge backs are and will run scared at the thought of one. And you would be in the right here, you have not received your goods in a timely fashion.
