I keep a tank at my parents house. For simplicity's sake i run a HOB for easy maintenance. The past two filters i've tried were the whisper ex 70 and now the regular whisper 60 that they are offering again.

They are anything but what the name implies. The ex70 was absurdly loud, and it was just motor noise. I looked it up and it seemed many others were experiencing the same thing. Now the whisper 60 isn't as loud, but is louder than my 3 year old AC110's that have been sucking sand religiously. I'm gonna give it a chance since i just hooked the 60 up, but its not looking promising.

:irked:

did tetra ever know how to build filters??

ive used some for simplicities sake before, and they have been nothing but horrid. noisy as hell, and did a sub-par job

Theres nothing whispery about my whisper 60......

When I got into the hobby I was introduced to the Whisper filters and I later found out about the Penguin and Emperor filters with their bio wheels and have'nt looked back.

I have a few whisper filters. They are lousy filters but they are quiet.Id think somethings wrong.

I still run Whisper 60's and do agree they are noisy as heck. However, I did switch back to them after using Marineland HOB's for some time, I found the whispers easier to manage, just my personal preference though

I use a Tetra EX 2400 and it's like having a running motor bike parked in the living room and that's with the new motorhead they sent me!!

It does a good job on the filtration side I just wish it wasn't so noisey! Tetra have great customer service, it's just a shame their products aren't as great.

Try a tetra EX1200 or any of the EX range. Cloggs quickly, flow is utterly duff, rubbish rubbish design, square corners on the pipes you cannot clean round with brushes.

Fx5 all the way!
