I wish we could have a kill off like that down here in the San Marcos River, but unfortunately it's spring fed and stays about 70 year round. The river's full of tilapia, and there's a plague of plecos competing with endangered and other endemic fish. The most we can do for now is snap them in half while were doing our fish sampling. To give an idea of how bad it is, a little old dam was being cleared out and converted into a kayak course, and while the water was diverted, 600 lbs of plecostomas were pulled out of a small area in one day. I'm glad y'all got a freeze. Study after study shows that natives handle and bounce back from out of the ordinary weather better than non-natives in most cases.
