Well, I thought I post this question up, wandering that some of you may or may not got rid of your bichirs, if so, what did you get rid of so far?
any attempt to get them back? pls tell us the 'experience' ..

As for me, almost 2 years ago, I got rid all my collections that I had before, including endlis, laps, congicus, sens, albino sens, longfinned sens, ornate, and dels.
Why? because, I pretty much overstock the tank ;)
I never had the attempt to get other type of fishes to fill up my tank, because I found nothing more interesting than bichirs, but one other reasons was that I saw platinum morphs, and thought it would be best to select which bichirs to keep carefully.
There are few more bichirs that I keep in the pond, but still I manage to keep the number low.

So how bout you guys??

Two years ago, I sold off all my bichir collection to get money for a fish that I like. Most of them went to a person, whom I bought his entire bichir collection back last year - got mine back + his :D

(3) 8"-10" Palmas polli

must have cost a pretty penny to buy 51 bichirs, how much did they cost if you don't mind my asking? as far as getting rid of bichirs, i don't think i could do it. i was gonna thin the herd but i couldn't even bring myself to get rid of a few sens

I don't sell them, If they get to big, I upgrade my tank

got rid of my lap coz thought it was pretty inactive and passive. got tired with it. 2 dels and an endli traded them to some other fish... still have some though.

Got rid of an ornate due to fin nipping. Sold a delhezi to a friend, just to share, not get rid of it. I don't keep senegals, because they are aggressive eaters compaired to some of my more passive species.

Sold a Delhezi that was not getting any food in my tank. Other than that I still have all by the Palmas Beuttikofoferi that escaped = Birchir Jerky :( ... Current count is 1 seng., 1 albino, and 1Palmas palmas. I might need to sell or rehome the albino or Palmas (maybe both) dunno yet.

I had a faulty heater get rid of my first bichir as well as an african knife and a spiny eel, never intentionally got rid of any bichirs though.
