My 10-11 inch Black Ghost Knife killed one of my fishes today. It was a rare 5 inch tetra that I just bought yesterday. It took out both of its eyes. When I bought the Black Ghost, the store owner warned me about the fish taking eyes out. This really sucks since I really liked that tetra and I had no control over it.

Anyone can share any similiar experience?

I think once a fish learns to eat the eyes out of other fish, then it will continue to do it for the rest of it life unless fed heavily. I remember one koi that would suck out the eyes of all goldfish that were put in with it. I'm sorry to say that BGK might end up living a very lonely life.

Really?? they are known to do that? hmm I hope he doesnt try to do that to any of his tank mates right now becuaes they would kill him over that lol

Yea, the thing that got me, is that it never bothered my other fishes and some are smaller. But that rare tetra I got, I bought it as a big eye tetra. A tetra with big eyes, maybe that is why it was targeted.

I had a bichir that excavated the eyes of an irridescent shark once--a shocking present on Easter morning. It hasn't happened ever again since, but with that in mind, it might not become an optical terrorist.

I had a BGK eat the eyes out of my armatus that had ick, so he was already pretty weak :( I thought the BGK was harmless

yup, those guys are mostly known to eat the eyes of the small fishes. when i first bought a bgk i put it in a 10g tank with some small feeder guppies which i used for checking if the water is ok. after a few days, i saw all the 6 guppies dead and missing thier eyes. i find it cool to tell you the truth.
