Aye, some times tetras do work with preds. I've kept silver dollars with lots of my preds. before........lemme rephrase...characins work....

How big does an Atabapos get? I saw some at my lfs (at least they look like the ones in the pictures, but a lot smaller) for $10. I have a friend who would be interested, but I would like to know how big they get since he doesn't have a large tank.

I HIGHLY doubt they are atabapos....HIGHLY....they ARE NOT common, ARE NOT cheap, and ARE NOT common.... ....so the chances they are atabapos are slim. Take some pictures, chances are for that price they are either johannas or venz. Very different from the atabapos though. Either way, none of these pikes are for small tankz as they all reach at least 14".... if he wants pikes for a small tank (how small?) either go for saxatilis group pikes or dwarfs....HTHs. BTW...here are some better pictures of the atabapos....easy to tell apart from other pikes...especially the tails...
