DIE ALGAE DIE!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
looks like you have quite the battle. Best of luck

I had a huge problem with BBA when I first started my planted tank. When I increased my CO2, potassium, and GH, it stopped growing and went away over the course of about 2 months.

Welcome to MFK. The excel route can work, but can also be very dangerous. I have personally had very little success with excel dosing to get rid of bba. I have many friends that have fixed their problems in this way.

My bn plecos wiped out a bba algae infestation in a matter of days
I've never had any plecos that have eaten BBA, but I haven't had any BBA in the same tank as a BN ever. I'll have to give a bn a try some day.

i have 4 CAE's in the tank that only eat this stuff, and the algae on the walls, two are aboy 5-6" and the other two are smaller, they realy work hard and dont eat the cichlid foos bucause they dont get a chance.

this to say the least dose not work well because there is only 4 and any more ant they would fight, peecos are too big,

I recently installes a cotsystem on my tanks and certan plants began growing like weeds, the BBA is about the same as always, although it didnt fall of as much befor i did my first HP treatment. the bath seems to have worked pritty well its dead and falling off, thats a good sing but its just going to ger repopulatted again...

im going to have to treat the whole tank, but its hoing to have to have fish in it... any sugestions for a fish safe solution??

Very vague statement there. Some plecos stay under 2" their entire lives, while CAE's can hit 6" or more.

A fish safe treatment is add more fast growing plants, control your nutrients, or dose excel on top of the co2.
