I can get 500 GB disks for 99.00. Blue Ray recordables are still at 40 for a single dual layer. Single layers are about 13.00. Now that external Sata is growing, you can add tons of 500 GB satas and pay 20 cents a gig, and it is growing cheaper all of the time. Eventually HDDs will have built in ethernet controllers with 40GB ethernet and you will be able to plug them directly into your TV which will in itself be a PC.

For media, I have all of my movies on a couple hard drives connected to an HD MVIX. Instant media streamed anywhere or played directly to an HD TV.

I am not shooting down BR, I would rather have them then HD-DVD. But they are by no means as cost effective as current HDDs.

In the long run I agree with MS that most content will be downloaded and available on demand. Eventually movies will air at the theater and be available for download before the first Blue Rays are ready for shipping to the stores for purchase.

Hey No doubt, I like to keep my data stored on HDDs as well and I agree that they are much more superior in size than any optical media out there, but this thread is about Blu-Ray vs HD DVD.

In that case... BR rules, but everything is on regular old DVD. The only problem right now is that you have to wait many, many more months for the war to be over and movies to go down in price.

I have had the PS3 for well over a year. I have 1 game and the Blue Ray movie that came with it. Nothing that good for it right now, and BR is too expensive for a couple extra pixels. Also, there is no way I am gonna let my kids grubby little mitts touch a blue ray disc.

What game do you have for it?

Have you tried Uncharted? I'm currently playing that right now and it's fun!

Actually if you read the earlier pages you will see I mentioned that the prices are already going down. They are comparable to current DVD prices. Some are still higher but there is already a decent amount out already that are selling at a very good price point.

Die Blu-ray, Die! Sorry, just had to say that. Got an HDDVD player for Christmas and don't want to hear it's already more obsolete than first thought.

But seriously at the moment the way I think about it, I don't see myself buying just any movie on Blu-Ray. It would have to be a good action movie or something you really must see in HD to enjoy. I don't think I would be buying regular movies like comedies on Blu-Ray unless of course the price is only a couple bucks or same price as regular DVDs

have exactly the same view.

... WOAH those are huge! ;)

Wonder if they'll have the usually awesome soundtrack in DTS surround...
