Now that external Sata is growing, you can add tons of 500 GB satas and pay 20 cents a gig, and it is growing cheaper all of the time. Eventually HDDs will have built in ethernet controllers with 40GB ethernet and you will be able to plug them directly into your TV which will in itself be a PC.
For media, I have all of my movies on a couple hard drives connected to an HD MVIX. Instant media streamed anywhere or played directly to an HD TV.
I am not shooting down BR, I would rather have them then HD-DVD. But they are by no means as cost effective as current HDDs.
In the long run I agree with MS that most content will be downloaded and available on demand. Eventually movies will air at the theater and be available for download before the first Blue Rays are ready for shipping to the stores for purchase.
Hey No doubt, I like to keep my data stored on HDDs as well and I agree that they are much more superior in size than any optical media out there, but this thread is about Blu-Ray vs HD DVD.
