so i have a 12 inch aro who ive had for about a week and a half and has not eaten and its scales are starting to fall out. its n a 75 with a few feeder it wont eat also wont eat shripm talipa nor frozen foods what to do is this a commen thing with big aros pluss its been swimmin around the bottom of the tank the last few days

Tank is prolly too small to start off with. Whats the water test like?

well the tank is too small but its the best i can do ight now its only 75gal, but i use the strips os its a rough estimate but the nitrogens are all 0, ph about 7.5,

Nitrogens? Has this tank been cycled? What is the ammonia level?

Nitrogens? Has this tank been cycled? What is the ammonia level?

well ammonia, nitrate and nitrite are nitrogens and in the freshwaterfish trade are "the nitrogens" sorry for the confusing termonalogy. but my ammonia is 0. and yes the tank is well cycled and i have a eheim pro 3 thermal filter on there is aprox 3lbs of biomax in it.

having zero nitrogens indicates not cycled. You gotta see a lil nitrate at least, especially with a big fish small tank. is he still alive?

lol well the reason i have 0 nitrogens is bc i have the pest canister on the market and i also just did a water change pluss my plants i mean my tank is a nitrogen destroyer i barly ever have any readings even if i go a month or more before a water change

Leav all the "nitrogens" stuff. Nobody here noes anything like that, you either call it ammonia, nitrate or nitrite. If you have all of this zero, surely, tank is not cycled. or if the nitrate has gone to zero after the cycling, then its ok and good.

As J Lake said, you have to get positive readings for nitrates, wotsoever. And surely, if u hav zero nitrate, the tank is 100% not cycled. whichever best canister, if you dont find any value for nitrates, there is no use. better keep the canister off for some days till the nitrate shows up.

i also have plants which we know eat nitrates that will explane y i have 0 but lets just forget the who nitrogen levels because trust me there perfect, either way y is my fish dieing?

Best canister filter maybe its too good and its sucking the nutrients out of the fish
