Diet?

I have a gold severum, gt, and a firemouth that I usually feed NLS, hikari gold, and they usually steal some of the other fish's flakes. Are there any "human" foods I can feed them. Just curious if they could eat lettuce or a meat of some sort

My Firemouths always ate anything I put in the tank.

They ate my scraps from time to time, nothing fried however. Ground Beef and chicken mostly. I fed them shelled peas on occassion, but stayed away from lettuce, it was a planted tank and didn't want to give them any more malicious ideas about plants than what they already had.

I know many people feed their fish beef heart as a treat.

I already feed them a staple. Looking for what people feed their fish other than staple pellets

Shrimp, mollusks, fish fillets, peas, and (if they'll eat it) romaine type lettuce works. Iceburg lettuce is devoid of anything useful, so it's usually avoided.
There is evidence that mammalian meat at any regularity is hard for a fishes metabolism to break down and can negatively affect their liver.
