I feed my rays earthworms/crawlers and blackworms. It's not a "cheap" diet since I feed 2-3 times per day.

I have read other threads About breaking rays from worms. aquaman45 Has a beautiful schroederi that I saw in a post. In that thread there was mention of attempting breeding if the Ray would eat something besides worms.

What is the benefit of feeding other items besides worms? I thought worms are a complete diet??

Cost and the amount of worms needed are the two main reasons I don't feed crawlers anymore. If you have a stubborn ray then cut the crawlers into chunks and soak the pellets or whatever desired food with the work chunks overnight and try feeding. Once they take that reliably then you can start cutting back on the ratio of crawlers to other food and eventually the Rays should take only the food. If you're not feeding newborn pups or have a pack of large pregnant females with a lot of tankmates then I wouldn't hesitate to stavre them a few days either depending on how desperate you are to convert. If one ray takes food the others should come around quicker too.

I feed my rays frozen shrimp, and occassionally worms or pellets. In order to get them to eat all i just mixed together and then i cut back on anyone and they will now eat whatever one of three i decide to feed. I only feed once a day, and sometimes every other day.......this way they are not as picky, and appreciate whatever i decide to feed them. The benefit is i can get shrimp (and pellets) at the grocery store while worms require extra trips to bait shop.
