Ok I have seen a comment here and there made about their comparison, but no real discussion on the IMO very noticeable difference between the fish that George brought in a couple years ago and what Isaac brought in more recently.

I have observed that the fish Riverwonders brought in all had a gold tint to them while Georges fish all were grey/silver/black. Also the growth rate for Isaacs fish seem to be alot faster then the fish George brought in. Georges fish went to mostly very experienced hobbyists so I am certain lack of care has nothing to do with this.

Anyway what could be the reasons behind such a difference?

My guess is location caught but I havent found out exactly where each group where caught.

Pictures would also help the discussion...

Have emailed the guys about the location these fish were collected at?

I asked Isaac and he just said the Orinoco basin...

Pictures are everywhere but I dont want to post any that are not mine.

Here is a pic of mine. Mine even has a purple sheen to his dorsal side.

i agree with you to some extent, wait until I get a picture of mine., as most of isaac's fish have almost a reddish brown fins. while i have one of george's, and it doesn't exhibit any of the reddish fins, at anytime.

Are you sure about this? I haven't been following every armatus discussion but are you sure Erik's/River Wonders fish are not going to start slowing down soon??

Very interesting hypothesis.. I think you're right at least on the fins being colored different..

Im not 100% sure, but it does seem that the riverwonders fish went from 4" and are all around 10" now in just a few months. George brought his in larger at like 8-10" so perhaps that is why they seemed to grow slower.

Another difference I have noticed is the tail. The older ones seem to have a more "ragged" tail and a very prominent hyaline edge while all of the newer ones have the trident shape with a lesser hyaline edge. Perhaps the darker color on the caudal fin of George's fish give the illusion of a more prominent white edge?
