They both look the same, Whats the difference?

I have a IT, planning to get some Thin bars because they look the same.

Which is more aggressive?
where are thin bars from?

Any information would be helpful !

PS. what are wide bars also?????? Are they the same species as thin bars but have wide bars????????

They are all different in appearence thin bar grow the smallest and are different then indos. Thin bar are slow growing and is less aggressive. Wide bar are another different species. They have different appearences and grow the biggest of the datnoids. Wide bar are impossible to get because they are banned from export only big specimen are available from private collectors who has gotten them before the ban.

doesnt explain about the aggression

I'm glad your taking such an interest in such a magnicient fishes!
There is absolutely stacks of info regarding thinbars and widebars. A useful search tool is the filter at the top of the datnoid forum, it's labelled "Search this Forum". Tyoe in thinbar and/or wide bar and all the posts woth that word will opo up.

Back to question,Answer: I heard wide bars can be aggressive when they are bigger 10 inch plus, however, can depend on the temperement on the individual fish. Thinbars are known as one of the less aggressive tigers.....in general. Get more tigers, say 4 plus to spread aggression.

as far as the aggression goes between IT and thinbar, IT are more aggressive in my opinion. they are very territorial. and as Ade said ITs grow the largest amongst the datnoid species. and for the stripes they have if you look closely, ITs have a thicker stripe then the thin bars. they are very sensitive fishes, and can easily be unstable. depending on the condition of your water. or the chemicals in the water. they get stable and unstable on and off so first time datnoids keeper like me has or had alot of suspicion about the fish. but in conclusion they are great fish i love them

Please correct me if im wrong about any of the info i provided.

it takes a trained eye to tell the difference between a IT and a wide bar
if you are not sure its best to get pictures 1st and post them hear as wide bars are expensive so its best not to get ripped off

thin bars don't seam to fight as much as other tigers but they can suffer from sudden death

your best bet is to do what most people do and get a pic of your future buy to get a positive ID

happy tiger keeping they are a great fish to own with larger tiger being like pet water puppy's

i already have an IT, hes pretty aggressive. Is it possible to put 2 thin bars in it? its alittle smaller then the IT. Will the IT ever bully them to death? or would it be fine

i have an IT and a thinbar in the same tank as the frontosa. the IT and the thinbar are like cream on cake. always together. think they are gonna breed.
