Can anyone tell me the difference between a green terror and a gold saum? I read on a site once, that the gold saums were called false green terrors. I'm trying to figure out for sure what mine is.

Sorry about that, got busy changing the water and forgot to upload a pic. Not a good pic, had to touch up the brightness. He's approx 3".
all green terrors other than True Gt's from equador or peru, are false- that includes all the saums, gold, silver, etc. yours is a gold saum. I'm not exactly sure on all the truth about the green terror, false V.s true story,- even though i own a true gt, but never took the time to find all that out, i am very sure somebody here could explain that all to you, there was a very informative thread acestro made on one of the more informative cichlid forums, though i can't remember which forum, modest man has the link i believe.
Green terror and gold saum are can both describe the same fish. What you have is called both.
There are several different species that go by the common name green terror. That's the problem with common names.

Possibly. I've read of much more geographically isolated species breeding. Just look at the mutt that flowerhorns have become. It's a testiment to the breeding capabilities of all cichlids.
The "true" GT's haven't been back in the hobby (or in the hands of people wanting to cross them) long enough to find out, which I hope never happens.

I agree. I don't really understand why anyone would wan't to hybridize green terrors until you can't tell the difference between them and any other Aquediens.
