Different head form between B. Filamentosum and B. Capapretum

Sounds pretty bad for the fish right? I mean if that is the case, we are talking about a serious disfiguration of the entire head.

It can be quite serious. A lot of Brachyplatystoma and Pseudoplatystoma survive to live fairly long lives, but it's not unusual for them to die, either.
 
I'd think if they die it is mostly of brain or nerve damage as a result of collision, not so much because of the muscular skeletal injury.
