what are the different types of rhom and whats the difference. also, ive heard that a 75g would be good for a rhom and i also heard a 125g is the bare minimum. im thinking about getting rid of some cichlids for a slow grower and a rhom came to mind.
and how do you say serrasalmus rhombouse or however you spell it
ty:)

I'm no piranha expert, but I'd say 125 is a bare minimum, because rhoms grow huge. But they also grow extremely slowly.

a 125 would be good for when they are full grown...but keep in mind it could take over 20 years for a rhombeus to get to full size! they take a LOOOOOOONG time to grow out. up to 6" the first year. then after that it's about half an inch a year...so it takes a while.lol

im really getting tempted. how much years would it take for a rhom to turn black? and i hear George is a good person to order from, who is he?

there arent really different "types" of rhoms, but it seems that there are many variations of them based on where they are caught.

i just bought a "blue diamond rhom" that was caught in peru, i think that the gold diamond rhoms are caught in peru as well...maybe they have the diamond scales to help blend in in the more open water (if peru's rivers are perhaps less brown in colour or something) and that leads them to have the diamond scales...

the "type" of rhom all comes down to where it is caught.

I'm going to be ordering from George when I get back. We could do the order together then shipping will be less. Oh Yeah, George is the person from sharkaquarium.com he is a vendor on MFK.

i got my blue diamond rhom (3") from MassiveAggression (canada, but they have a US location) on friday. right away he was eating and cruising around. wont let food hit the substrate. only once, when he was hiding in a cave and didnt notice the food come down.
