Different strain of ich?

Thanks! I'll check it out sometime tomorrow. For right now though the tank is completely empty and I'm gonna let everything dry out completely to make sure whatever was in there is dead and pretty much just recycle the tank as if it were brand new and go through the whole cycling process over again

I haven't encountered anything like that and I have owned a 30" plus goonch which I sold not long ago and currently have a 12" one. Both of mine where pellet trained from the start and I would feed the big guy a smelt sometimes. Maybe something is being introduced with your frozen food or live food if you are feeding live? Maybe it's just something with the water?

I don't believe it is coming from the food but I could be wrong. The 1st goonch that got this was 100% pellet trained as well. Feeders and frozen food never touched their water.
