I received 2 Goliaths from Wes a week ago. Well through the many, many years I have kept Hydrocynus this is my first time ever having a Goliath with the bottom of its tail white/blue instead of red. Has anyone else had a Goliath without red on the tail? This Hydrocynus Goliath also has a pretty strong blue/green sheen to the body, not like the silver/brown look of most of the others I have acquired or seen on the web. I am gonna try and take pics tomorrow night once I get back home. Your thoughts or experience with having one like this would be appreciated.... And of course any pics of larger specimens.

Thanks, Ruck

Did it come out the bag with a white/blue tail? When I got mine from wes, the tail was very red like blood red. A couple weeks of keep it, the tails are still red just a little washed out

There are three genetically distinct haplogroups within H. goliath.

Pics?

User134679 miss me with your lame, cornball comments. I specifically said I would get pics up later tomorrow evening (which is now)... Please read the post entirely before commenting and posting rubbish like that.

Danny, yeah it came out the bag with its tail coloration like that...

Chicxulub, thanks for the info. I knew there were more than one type of Goliath but wasn't sure.

Here are the pics, I took them with my iPhone they move so much it was almost impossible to get a decent shot, but I gave it my best.

He's just little. Hell develop color as he gets bigger. My gatf had a colorless tail when I got him but he has a nice red flag on him now. Hell get the color as he gets bigger.

could you elaborate on that?

White people, black people and Asians are all human beings, but have different genetic traits that make them look different. Think of the GATF haplogroups in the same manner, they're like races of GATF.

would that make them regional variants, or is it the same thing?
