Dilemma with stingray tankmates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I keep my 35cm motoros with FW needle-fish (10cm). I had a few eaten... but if you can take the risks, you CAN try~

Thanks for all the info. I’m ok with takin the risk. If he starts eating them, I’ll prob take the rainbows to LFS and get credit and try bigger fish. Hope it works tho cus the rainbows add the color to make an exciting tank. I also may get a small 4in retic instead of the motoro. They don’t get as big and the one he has that I like has fattened up in the last couple weeks since they got him.
Does anyone know if a slight discoloration on the side of the ray will heal or will it stay that way forever?

Well I have my 2 x 9" rays in with some rainbows which are around 3.5". They have been together around 6 months, the rainbows should eventually hit 6" and make a nice display in the tank. The rays pay the rainbows no attention at all. Not to say they wont eventually pick them off but they are doing well so far. The main difference is my rays wont get anywhere near the size of a motoro so you may get more problems when the rays get bigger.

I would go for it, accept the chance that they may get eaten and you might be pleasantly suprised !

What type of rays do you have?

If you have a big tank that would help too. I have discus, tetras, red severum and so far my marble has eaten any of the fish yet. My marble is about 10 inches
