I didn't see a shark specific forum so I apologize if this is posted in the wrong spot.

So I set up my 72G bowfront and added 3- 2" Chocolate Cichlids, 1-3" Iridescent shark and 3-3" Tri color Sharks to start.
The smallest Tri color is favoring another, swimming along side (Even at high speed) and rubbing tails from the dorsal back. He even started scooting the third shark away while he was making advances. This behavior does not seem aggressive but I thought Tri Colors had to be a bit more mature before getting their funk on?
Love is in the air...

I think Tri colors get agressive towards conspecifics when they get older. Also, I hope you have space for a bigger tank for the Irid in a year when it outgrows the 72.

I think Chocolates get pretty big as well.

I have a 250'000 sq ft converted missle silo ready to go once the Irid gets 8''. I'll start filling now.:)

It was a joke. I don't agree with the some of the opinions regarding tank size for certain fish so I was poking fun at you. Internet forums have their oddities; I frequent a motorcycle forum that has a bunch of gear nazis. Some guy posts a pic of a beautiful winding road and the replies are "Why aren't you wearing gloves?" "Levi's won't protect you in a crash", stuff like that. Here, some guy puts an Aro in a 125 and the replies tell him to get rid of it or buy another tank.:WHOA: I don't get it. Just my opinion and frankly, nobody will change it. I'm going to put even more fish in my tank so there!!:)
No offense, just a little joke. Sorry you were on the receiving end.

Ok, its just that I spend a lot of time at work explained to people that Irids get over a foot and they aren't fish for a 10 gallon. Just looking out for the fish, thats all.:)

It's not a 10 gallon. I will make adjustments as necessary. If one of those adjustments is taking my foot long Irid back to the pet shop that's what i'll do. My shop of choice has been in business for years and deals with big monsters all the time, i'm not worried about it.
Or i'll fill the silo.:)

Ok, just want to make sure. I am not very trusting of people that are going to upgrade because usually they don't and unless the fish store can handle it (which most can't) trading in big fish causes lots of problems.

I know your tank isn't a ten, but most beginner tanks are and that is usually who I deal with

Another example of how a thread is taken off topic from the original topic of discussion because tank size is an issue. Next time anybody wants some help with fish, just ask a hypothetical question. Tri color or bala sharks are schooling fish, so you may want to buy a few more.
