Someone always has to bring up this issue :nilly:. His lighting and his fish to tank size really are not correlated
:iagree: We don't do that here on MFK.

When I wanted to dim my 55 for my Rhom, I just cut aluminum foil to size in several pieces, then I just put the foil under the light on top of the tank cover. Works great, cheap, and very easy to play around with to get the desired dimness.

Jus tlike to say thanks again man i tried it with the foil and it looks so good now, not too dull not too light, left a bit clear at the centre so the light kinda filters out. Cheers :headbang2

I use black underlay that people use to put down under gravle on driveways and stuff. It is perfect. Dims it really nicely stands the heat of the bulb easily, and vents the heat of the bulb so it doesnt get too hot, just loosely tape a length round the bulb, easy.
Or i use a smaller wattage starter with the bulb.
