Yes matt, I imagine a jew visiting China would eat scat because its just another local delicacy. Be careful what you say about different cultures as I am Jewish as are many other members on here.
all unfunny jokes asside I would like to know which fish the OP did decide to eat.

also is that Allenbatrachus grunniens?

I actually remember reading a thread on here in the off topic about people eating the weirdest things. and there were some members that had eaten some really exotic meats.

all I can say is Pangasius catfish (ID sharks) taste great.

I bet they do, they seem very popular. Also, catfish is very popular here as well.

they are known as "Basa" and have a really sweet fragrant taste when compared to other freshwater fish.
They are the only species of catfish I have eaten. although I know virtually every aquarium fish out of the amazon is consumed locally. therefore all cichlids etc are perfectly edible

That pangasius catfish is also known as swai.I buy bags it in filet form for my fish when it is on sale but I have yet to try it.
