ok so some one asked me what i have going on with all these clams andsnails and crays so here it is any ? just ask

ok so all the clams and ram hornsnails and trapdoorsnails i get them from a canal and the crays i get them from a stream but i also have the self cloning crays in the ponds but the other crays are in the barrels so i have 3 barrels when i get the clams i stick them in the first barrel and leave them inthere for about a month or so then when i go get another batch i move them to the 2nd barrel and the new batch goes in the first barrel so in about 3months the clams and snails are in the bigger pond and those are the ones i take out and feed my fish with and i feed the clams and eveything i get from the canals&stream catfish chow that i buy at the feed store for $15bucks for 50lbs bag i just ground it up and feed them all
but i know on here some will agree with me and some will say im bringing in outside diseases but ive been doing this for years now and it works for me so if u like it try it out if u dont then i dont really care

I personally think what your doing is fine, given you quarantine your live food before feeding it to your fish...

In a way, if i had the space, i'd probably setup something like what you have...right now only got space to grow marble crays...

the crays with the eggs are marblecrays and the regular crays are in the barrels and i dont put them with the marble cuz they end up killing them and eating the smaller crays so they just make it to the3rd barrel and then its strait to the monsters hehe

so how does ur filtration work on this?? what sort of pump do u use?? how often do u have to add water? do u have ur clams netted so that they are easy to move?? how does winter effect them?

its being filterd with fx5 it pumps the water from the pond to the last barrel and from there its water falls back to the pond and i just add water to it when i see it going down it like once a week and about once a month a drain half and add new water to it but since it has alot of floating plant that also helps the filtration and as for the winter they do fine the only thing is the marble crays dont get berried till its warm agin but everything else has noproblem and the water get freaken cold u cant have ur hand in the water to long there also red cherry shrimp in there also and they make it there the winter also i use them to feed my fish also but just the ones in the grow out stage

ohh no the clams r not netted the bottom has about 1 1/2 of sand and the plants u see are all in buckets so they dont get all rooted every where so when its time to get the clams is easy cuz there just under the sand but most are on the top of the sand filter feeding so its easy to get them and the barrel are bare bottom so with a nett i swoop them up and move them

so do have u ever tested the water too see i u even need to do a water change once a month i mean if not them for all u know that might be unnecessary and also do u think the fx5 is needed of do u think that on could be made with enough plants to take care of all the filtration i just really have no idea on how to handle plants cause i have never dealt with them.........freedom of speech says that i can have all the run-on sentences that i want buddy:p:duh:

You don't mention tank size or stock? You should be doing 50% WC every week.

What did that guy above you say about punctuation??? It makes us not even want to read your post. Freedom of speech will get you nowhere with sensible adults trying to give you help here or anywhere you go on the web or in life.
