That was my first and only del. It looked innocent enough....lesson learned......

A few months later I added a 5" NGT to a tank full of 2" EBJD. Well let's not get into that :D

Yeah good idea. :grinno:

i'd watch out. senegals grow pretty quickly, you'll soon have a 5" bichir and a 2" ebjd, sounds like a snack to me

I have a 12-13" long Polypterus Senegalus in my 130g tank with all sized cichlids. From 1/2" babies Severum Rokteil, 1" Sajica, 2" Key Hole Cichlid to 6" and 8" Severums, 10" Cichlasoma Bifaciatus (and many others), I never had problems o any suspect disparitions, the Senegalus is just ignoring the cichlids and the cichlids are ignoring him as well.

My sens wiped out an entire school of 3.5" odessa barbs overnight when they were about 5". I'd tread lightly with such an expensive fish. I woke up to them deathrolling the corpses so they could swallow them.

yeah sens usually grow fast, especially if you only have one so it may need to be separated at some point to allow the ebjd to catch up though since they are growing together it will probably be fine, i added several cichlids to my tank when they were like 1.5in and i only lost one, they tend to ignore the cichlids since they dont swim jerkily and nervously like prey fish but there is still a very good chance the sen could eat him, they are straight-up predators after all and wont consider how much you paid for and care about that 5-star ebjd meal they are about to eat
