Hey, new to the forums and usually stick to the invertebrates section of it lol

so im trying to decide between a dinosaur bichir (Polypterus senegalus) or a peacock eel to add to my tank, its a 55 gallon tank with sand substrate. Been set up for several months so everything is balanced.

I want the more active and interesting of the two but it also needs to be able to survive with my crawfish who likes to hunt at night:FIREdevil

so, which do you think would be better for me? Money is kinda tight so i can only get one for now.

Maybe General Aquauria Discussion?

But I have had both and I have to say if it is just a regular sene I'd get the peacock eel. I would suggest an albino sene. Out of the 8 different polypterus species I have had I miss my albinos the most. I had 3 different regs and ended up getting rid of them the fastest out of all the poly's.

my tank has black sand with a black background and neon-ish decor so a white version would be amazing!

why did you get rid of them?

Their drab looks I guess, that and they were growing too slow and my endlicheri's were growing too fast.
Albino's are alot stockier then the regular senes alot of the time. But I have seen some fat regs too, but all the albino's I have seen or had are fat ***es.

why did you recommend the peacock eel before? From what ive read is that very few people ever get to see theirs and they mostly hide in the substrate.

I used to be into eels. So I had alot...
If it was a toss up between a regular sene and a peacock eel I would say the eel.
zig zag eels are cool too and are out more then peacocks;)
But then we get back into the same discussion;)
Just throwing out other choices cause it seems you haven't made up your mind yet.

haha true true

now if i can talk the lfs down in price, would a bichir and a zig zag work together or would the zig zag become a meal?
