directv opinions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mmphh. I think geographical location has something to do with it, the further north, the more issues. My sister had it, and it sucked, even with the signal amplifier. It regularly dropped the signal on a daily basis. Sign a two year contract for spotty service? Why in the h*** would I even consider it?

I've had the service for about 3yrs now. No dvr though, just one HD box, and one regular box. I have the Choice Extra package. They provide the channels, I pay the bill. No service outages either. Haven't really had to deal with their customer service, so I can't comment on that. Overall, no complaints.

I've had them for 5+ years n Im happy with them.

Remote has 4 channels on top to control just TV, VCR, DVD n dvr. When on dvr, just push power on n your TV/box turns on (same w/off button). Have the Directv app so there is no excuse to buy a MMA fight n forget to record it ;). Have never lost a signal from Santa Ana winds of heavy rain (knock on wood!).

Service is cool n friendly. Techs are usually contracted by directv to set up the dish n they have been good to me thus far. I've had to call 3 times for service due to remodel n each was a different tech that I found friendly n helpful.

Customer Service seems good to as I was going to cut them off last year n go w/a different company but Directv won me over. Gave me 6 months of free HBO n Starz n reduced my monthly a lil (did it once n have yet to call again for anything). Told my mother n law to call n do the same but they didn't give her nothing but 3 months of free HBO (you actually get to pick what free package).

I thought it was a great way to keep the customer happy and... Keep the service by extending the ever greedy marketing flow. So, as of today I'm happy :D

I have Comcast and I'm so completely dissatisfied with them I'm going to pay $150 to end my contract. I've had dishnetwork and was happy, love their dvr. Uverse is not available at my house. Have no experience with directvDirecTV what's your opinions.

We just got them, weve had dish, and time warner dish was good but wouldnt let us sign back up because it hadnt been three months yet since we left them even though we stayed with them a year longer than our contract. time warner was a piece of crap. DirectTv's installer was Awesome, he even gave us his personal number to call him incase something happened or if we had any problems.

Side jobs ;)

He said that any house he does he makes sure itd be done like it was his own home and he did to, he was there for hours making sure everything was perfecttt :)

I researched their DVR and it sounds like it is atleast as good as dishnetwork. It sounds like most of you are happy with them and they have a nice internet/satellite/homephone bundle with at&t so I'll probably give them a tryif it will be cheaper than dishnetwork, still news to look into that better but didn't want to waste the time if their customers weren't happy. Hopefully Comcast will bury the cable the have laying across my lawn soon so that I can get this ball rolling.

Thanks for the help.
