Dirty lil Dodos

4's a good number, more the better. dont think they'll pay much attention to the arrow. i'd be worried about those rays at the bottom.

Why won't the Aro work?

I think Dorado are misunderstood. I haven't had any troubles yet and the biggest one is a monster.

Mike (H20) has had a 20+ incher with his rays for a long time now. Never had any trouble.

My other 2 (6 inchers) have been with rays since the size of these lil buggers and have never had any trouble except for a ray trying to munch him when they were in a very small tank.

Kinda hard to not have rays in a tank when I have 16 of them in all different sizes....

Might have to leave one tank without them though so I don't have a repeat of last year..... ;)

in my experience, that arrow is too large to eat and dorados don't chase after fish in that shape or color. so should be ok. Keep mine with a silver arrow as well.

I have 2 shoals. One group is 4 inches.

The other is (2) @ 6 and (1) @8.

I'm trying to close the gap in size (small ones fed 3 times a day) bigger ones 3 times a week.

How close in size would you say they have to be before combining them?

The big shoal of Dorado have been kept with rays from day one.... The rays were like 6-7 inches across when they were 2.5-3...... They big group is now in with 15 inch rays and seem to be fine.... Have been for a while.

I had one ray maul a Dorado in the past when I had 2 rays and 4 dorado in a 40 gallon breeder that was filled like 4 inches from the top... Easy for the ray to trap the baby Dorado. The 2 Dorado that were eaten had jumped the divider that had BIG rays on the other side (up to 17 inches across)

It isn't just my rays.... I think alot of people here don't openly admit mistakes like mine.... I do hoping people can learn from them.

So you'de go ahead and turn loose 4 inch Dorado with sdome as big as 8? I'm excited.... a 7pc shoal should be pretty neat to watch constantly pace the tank back and forth...... :headbang2

that sounds good.
IMO any tank with rays is awesome.
too bad i dont have the resources to keep one....
yea,i'd try it.
theres only one 8 incher,he'll have too many to pick on.
dont think he'll do much damage to anything, but always be prepared...
