I think Dorado are misunderstood. I haven't had any troubles yet and the biggest one is a monster.
Mike (H20) has had a 20+ incher with his rays for a long time now. Never had any trouble.
My other 2 (6 inchers) have been with rays since the size of these lil buggers and have never had any trouble except for a ray trying to munch him when they were in a very small tank.
Kinda hard to not have rays in a tank when I have 16 of them in all different sizes....
Might have to leave one tank without them though so I don't have a repeat of last year.....![]()

The other is (2) @ 6 and (1) @8.
I'm trying to close the gap in size (small ones fed 3 times a day) bigger ones 3 times a week.
How close in size would you say they have to be before combining them?

I had one ray maul a Dorado in the past when I had 2 rays and 4 dorado in a 40 gallon breeder that was filled like 4 inches from the top... Easy for the ray to trap the baby Dorado. The 2 Dorado that were eaten had jumped the divider that had BIG rays on the other side (up to 17 inches across)
It isn't just my rays.... I think alot of people here don't openly admit mistakes like mine.... I do hoping people can learn from them.
So you'de go ahead and turn loose 4 inch Dorado with sdome as big as 8? I'm excited.... a 7pc shoal should be pretty neat to watch constantly pace the tank back and forth......![]()
