Disappearing Fish

Has anyone ever had a fish just disappear? I had recently added an OB Peacock to my 4ft tank not too long ago and bought him big enough to endure the crap he might get from the other guys for being new. Any how long story short he's now gone. I cleaned the tank taking every rock out thinking he might have hid and died somewhere and nothing. He was one of the bigger fish in the tank so there's no way he was eaten completely. I've since rescapped the tank a few times and nothing. Cleaned all around the tank and no remains anywhere on the outside if he jumped out. He just kind of disappeared...

The only logical theory I can come up with is that he jumped out of the tank through one of the small openings, flopped around on the carpet, sparked the curiousity of my dog and got eaten. Weirdest thing to happen involving my tank to date. Guess he didn't like his new home.
Alien abduction ?

I put in bags of fish that I never saw again.. a dozen Kuhli loaches come to mind. They might all still be there as far as I know. More than likely they were ate though. Then there are fish that I figured were gone because I hadn't seen them for almost 6 months to just suddenly be front and center every day again..

Well I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with run away fish lol I had buffalo head disappear for a month or so and just appear again out of no where but he was tiny so I knew he was hiding somewhere or eaten. OB Peacock though is gone for sure with a trace.

lost a bichir for months found it under a couch 30 ft away from the tank...wife thought it was a snake when she was moving the sofa to vacuum.....lol also lost a clown knife for about a year thought some one ate him just to change out the rocks and find a massive clown knife hidden behind the rock pile still alive...just never know. It could of been alien's and they got tired of feeding it ( you know the constant flying back and forth to the fish store for feeders....lol)
