I'm considering constructiong a tank for a Redtail catfish. I currently live in an apartment that I plan on staying there for at least the next 2 years. The tank I plan on building will be at least 48" wide so its not like I would be able to move it out as a whole.

Would disassembling it be an option when the time comes?

If you plan on putting it back together I would say no, unless you strip it and reseal it completely. Recently I had a plywood tank start leaking because the epoxy cracked. All it takes is a small crack and it just gets worse from there...fast.

if you don't plan on leaving it there i sure wouldn't try it
i would make it just big enough to fit throught the door
if you try to break it down later the only thing you will be able to save is the glass and that would be a pain in the arse

Yeah the more I thought about it the more the idea wouldn't work. Well I can always go down to a tiny 90"x32"x30" :D

You probably won't be building it more than 48" *tall*, so you could flip it over and move it out. Of course, you'd have to empty it to do it, but you get one of those $100 infatable pools that holds 900 gallons and comes with a pump to act as a temporary house for your fish....

Um, why not use a pond liner inside instead of epoxy. Use deck screws to hold it together then you can dissasemble it easy.

how do you get the glass to seal around the pond liner? I've thought about this before...maybe you can answer what I've been wondering

yeah answer that one i am saying it don't happen imo
