its not funny anymore... i am currently in the middle of what i suspect to be a full tank wipeout... i have one fish left  my common plec.

ive lost my oscar, silver dollar, and my two sens. all in two days...

thank you slime disease, for ruining the nicest selection of fish ive had in a long while. didnt fall behind on water changes, didnt overfeed, water is of good quality, and added medication to kill the parasites. whats happening:irked:

havent added anything in a while either. it must have been laying dormant in some plants whe i bought them or something.

at least i dont have to worry about them outgrowing my tank now. its gonna be a while before i get my new one.

Sorry to see this are you sure it was parasites? And not a bacterial infection or fungal?

slime disease is a parasitic infection so im told. they burrow into the skin/scales of the fish, and irritate it. so the fish makes too much slime, and goes grayish/faded in colour. as soon as the parasite gets to the gills its all over.

it wasnt fungus as it is usually white, and looks like cotton wool. this was grey slime. was in spots one day, then all over my oscar the next. it moves quick.

was probably all over the sens too. but would be less noticeable as they are a dull cream/brown colour anyway. when an oscar turn grey, something is definately up...

Man I'm so sorry. That is so rough. Did the fish have any syptoms at all? Or act off in any way?

it sucks:irked:

as above: grey, dull fish. exess slime. scratching. even bleeding on my big sen (most probably from scratching).

and worringly, a strange swimming patten. arched back, little to non existant use of tail, scarilly similar to what is being described by someone in another thread about an "ornate with strange walk".

What medication did you add to kill the parasite ? what kind of dosing did you do ?

Did you introduced a new tankmate recently ?

the only one they had suitable. king british (obviously a British brand) disease clear. all the others where white spot, or fin rot. i dont like all-in-one treatments. i guess this just reinforces my point:), but i had no other choice.

last tankmate was my new polypterus, a few weeks ago. but it was fine when i got it. it was swimming round and eating well, till 3 days ago. when it started to look sad.

Sounds like your last poly was the culprit. He probably had it (but you couldn't see it yet)when he entered your tank. Been there, done that- unfortunatley.

Quarentine is the best preventative.

P.S.

Ick meds are also supposed to get rid of slime disease.

Excess slimeness can also be caused by bacterial infection or the result of given the short time span My thoughts are bacterial rather than parasites.does list the ingredients?
Bichirs do not do well with copper based meds-Anne

I feel for you my friend... I had something like this happen. I introduced a new fish I suspect introduced something very nasty because in the following week I lost almost all my fish one by one...it was BAD
