A friend of mine asked me a ? Regarding discharge

He showed me a video but I can't seam to upload it

It seams that his female is letting out big clouds of what looks like sperm

It looked like the female was leaking or even smoking a cigarette for about 5-10 mins

She was swimming around with the cloud coming from under her

I have never seen anything like this so can't give him advice

Has anyone seen anything like this before

Prob pretty normal. If the male pumped her with a large load its just leaking all over the place. Ive seen a female discharge a golfball sized clump of sperm the day after also

This wasn't a sperm plug which is what confused me but like I said it looked like she was smoking

And he said it was fairly soon after food

I was thinking internal parasite but I have never seen the affects of that

But i have seen a male miss a female and blow sperm all over the place like smoke. Im thinkin if the sperm sac breaks then it will break apart and spread like smoke.

True I will try to get the video uploaded again

How long does the sperm normally stay inside the female ?

I have never seen any sperm plugs after breeding as my barbs eat everything

My friend has some lemon fin barbs and they was pecking at the cloud

I did read that but I was under the impression that was just sea water rays and doesn't apply to our FW types

That is what happens before they give birth t1. Or miscarry if its alot like your describing .

I've had it happen twice when the ray leaks and than shoots out what I thought was sperm but kept coming out for a day or two and soon after realized it was underdeveloped pups that were almost reabsorbed or just plan not developed . Chunks look like rotting squid smell like rotting death and a delicacy to other rays and fish lol. I've seen my males blow full loads into the water after failed attempts and the amount is not even close to what I've early described.
