Discolored kyoga flame back

Clarification. Exum has mixed gender so they should color, at least when spawning. OP has all male. I would not expect much color in the all-male scenario from Victorians in general.

i separated the 9 piebald males in a 40g for a time letting the fry grow out, also wanted to see the mbpia lutea group color.

the lutea group was 12 - not sure of the m/f ratio - could be all males sadly is why ive not seen any color? they gained some faint black lines but not really the color i saw on the internet.

the black / white sand are the lutea

Could very well be too many males. Try isolating a male in a separate tank and see if he colors.
