Discovery, "Fresh Water"!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm a little dissapointed, No Arapaima? I meen really. If I were doing a bit on freshwater, I'd atleast say "The Worlds largest fish, The arapaima lives here in the amazon"

It was cool but to short for me. I also think they should have shown the other lakes besides Malawi.

It's been sitting on the dvr for a few days, but I finally watched it last night.

It was cool... the wildabeast migration was an awkward fit IMO. I agree that it was too short also.

Didn't get a good feel of the diversity of live in the amazon rivers... especially the weird unusual fish they could've shown.

The scene with the dorados was pretty good though.

Even the malawi/tang/vic was super short. But if you're into af. cichs. check out that "Jewels of the Rift" doc. It was really good.

I hope one comes out about amazonian fish exclusively. Or just freshwater ichthyology in general.

I hope they replay it tonight!

They can't cover all the fish in the Amazon. There are more species there than in the Atlantic they said! The Amazon, what an awesome river. Also, I read in one of my text books in a freshwater biology class I took in college that the world record Arapima was like 28' and weighed over 1800 lbs. Now that's a freakin' monster. But I must say the Arapima is only the worlds largest freshwater fish. In the sea it is the whale shark and the white sturgeon is the largest anadromous fish. For the of you who don't know anadromous means they can freely travel between slat and fresh water. Check out jungle with the big words.

Yeah I have actually. I can't remember the name of the program.... possibly "Wild Discovery" a show that used to run on the discovery channel about wildlife from different parts of the world.

The show I'm talking about though, showed arrowanas (big ones) jumping out of the water to eat black beetles on a branch overhead. Oh, and cardinal tetras being picked off by a king fisher lol

Lucky!!!!! I'm jealous
