Is this a good combo? I have a Motoro Stingray pup and a smal Datnoid (which I would get rid of), in my 125g. When the ray buries himself the tank is quite boring....and I figured that due to the fact that the ray is demanding of clean water, some Discus would be a nice addition.
Let me know if I am off base with this idea

Could work? I don't see why it wouldn't'. Could be a really cool planted tank setup.

i have that set up right now x2, once i did have to remove one of my discus due the the sting ray did get hold of him, just tore up a fin, didnt kill the fish, however it did happen but one issue out of almost 2 years isnt bad, and will actually keep the tank this way until the rays get super huge but by then the discus will be pairing up and will get their own tanks anyways, just my opnion but id go for it cuz yes, the water quality has to be there, with all fish but especially fish that cost 100s of dollars

Beautiful set up and awesome fish! Leopoldi, what looks like a scarlet pleco and discus - LOVE IT. I'll have to copy that some day. Do you have any problems the pseudo sucking on your rays?

Regards and awesome setup.

Sorry but that's not mine, I wish! One of my favorite tanks on the site, belongs to this member:

The discus can some times peck at the rays sometimes causing eye damage. On the other hand some rays will try to eat any fish housed with them. I would say it could work but keep a very close eye on things and be ready to take action if need be. Worst case scenario IMO would be the ray topping the discus and suffocating it.

I think it would work with smaller ray species like a hystrix and larger discus. But you would still have to keep an eye on things.
