I asked about Apistos with Discus and while compatable, normal Discus temps are a little high for Apistos long term wellbeing. Rams are the best choice for a Discus tank if you want a cichlid. Sevs get big and some can be nasty, even if the Sev is mellow it will out compete the Discus for food, who like to graze off the bottom at thier leasure. Angels can mix with Discus but will most likly end up owning the tank as they are generally more aggressive than Discus. This type of thing is always a trial and error situation, depending on the individual fish & tank size involved personaalities vary and what works for one could be a total disaster for another.
