Discus eggs

Could be an indication that your GH and TDS is too high, and the eggs will never hatch.
 
LFS actually tested my TDS today, I have high phos reading in the tank so im using RO water from the shop to bring this down before using Rowaphos. she indicated that normal tap water over here is about 50, RO water would be 2. my TDS was 251!!!!! Needless to say i'm continuing with RO water changes.
 
TDS of 251 is really high if trying to breed discus. I read on simplydiscus that they need TDS of levels of 70ish and GH less than 6 for the eggs to hatch.
 
I'm not actively trying to breed them I have just managed to get a pair from my lot so would be nice if I could get some hatched. Anyway i'm working on get the water sorted, All other water params tested today it LFS were perfect.
 
i am in the same boat. Last night , it was 2nd batch that i m using ro water (they lay eggs so many times before, but i tried tap water, turn out no good) . it's about 50ppm hopefully i'll get some wiggles. From my opinion, wipe down you tank, big WC before they lay eggs and try not feed too much during lay eggs and hatch. My last batch last close to 2 days, i did WC on the 1st day and income water went right into the sponge filter and that created more nasty stuffs in the water, the next day all eggs turned white. This time, i won't do that again.
 
Discus fish, named so because of their flat, rounded shape, are beautiful additons to any aquarium. Discus fish are members of the cichlid family, and are desirable pets that can raised and bred for profit. Breeding discus can be a great hobby. It is often a challenge for beginners, but is not too difficult for fish keepers with reasonable experience. Thanks.
