Discus friendly plecos

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When you say albino pleco, do you mean the standard common in albino form, or an albino ancistrus? Neither are, in my experience, that good with discus; the former get too large and the latter can get aggressive when it comes to seizing the discus' side and having a snack.

I would go with cories. Sterbai would look great. No angels or clown loaches; the latter are far too active for discus.

I would highly recommend L52 Dekeyseria sp. I am using it in all my wild discus tanks and not only does it clear algae faster and better than bristlenoses, it is more attractive to boot! It doesn't harass discus, and it continues to clear algae even after being exposed to fish food (which it does eat still, since there's barely any algae to eat when it does such a good job of keeping the tank spotless)

Nooooo Angels cause disease and for plecos you can go with BN, and the green phantoms are the best I have both in my tank. And if you want some really nice discus and green phantoms buy from Hans

http://tropicalfishandaquariums.com/Compatibility/ suggests that an angelfish and a discus are not compatible. However, the discus can be a tankmate with the chocolate zebra pleco, the flash pleco L204, King Tiger Pleco, Peppermint Pleco L030, Sunshine Pleco L014, Zebra Pleco, Starlight bristlenose pleco L183, Lemon Spotted green Pleco L200, Leopard Pleco, and the Queen Arabesque Pleco. Hope that helped!

I kept 2 gold nugget plecos in my 180 with 12 discus and 35 cardinal tetras with no issues at all I also threw in 7 sterbai Cory cats and they worked well also
