So i have this tank http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?559942-What-do-you-think and one of the fellow MFK keeper suggested that discus would look great in it. My wife loves that idea, and i agree, but since i'm the one doing the chores on it I have some doubts. After 12 or so hours reading about discus, idea of growing out 2 1/2 to 3 inch fish in it, is not going to work. With bigger fish, I simply can't afford it. So here is my plan: I have spare 29 gallon that i could use as a grow out with discus essentials, bare bottom, two sponge filters one rated for 20 g other 40 g, high heat, staple diet and water changes. Do you think it could work? I would like to grow them out to about 4 to 5 inches and then BAM!!! discus in 90 gallon.I know 29 is on a small side for about 5 to 7 fish but maybe it could work for couple months. The plan has some holes in it, I still need to get my water tested (i don't want to mess with RO ) and i need to talk my wife to setting up another tank, and some things that i haven't think of yet. Please share you're thoughts.
